A brilliant solution – implant-supported dental restorations
Individual teeth missing? Or several teeth? Or perhaps all of them?
Implant-supported dental restorations feel just like your own teeth.
- If you would like to once again feel as if you had your own teeth, with their own roots,
- if you want to be able smile, laugh, bite and chew as you would with a full set of natural teeth,
- and if you want to regain complete freedom and confidence,
- then an implant-based dental restoration could well be the ideal solution for you.
People of all age groups – from teenagers to seniors – can enjoy the many benefits of implants. One of the reasons why dentists often recommend implants for young people with missing teeth is that they are not happy to grind down their healthy neighbouring teeth in order to create fitting points for a bridge. Normal everyday interaction with other people, whether at work or at home, is easy and carefree when you exude vitality and energy – healthy, great looking teeth help you do just that! And for seniors, even if they have no remaining natural teeth, it is a real godsend to once again enjoy the natural, secure feeling of a restoration mounted on implants.
Laugh, chew, swallow, speak clearly – implant-supported dental restorations give you a real feeling for life.
Successful development work on implantation techniques was being carried out in Sweden as early as the 1960s. Based on the results of extensive scientific study and documentation, the German Society of Dentistry and Oral Medicine (DGZMK), recognised implantology as an established and proven treatment in 1982. The Kuratorium perfekter Zahnersatz – a German organisation dedicated to the quest for perfection in dental restorations – has written: “Now that we have the benefit of the results of numerous long-term studies with periods of observation of up to 20 years, we know that implants can remain firmly anchored in the jawbone for decades.”
Nowadays, more and more people want the increased quality of life offered by dental implants. In 2003, around 150,000 patients had over 300,000 implants fitted in Germany alone. And those figures are on the increase.
Implants – Lebensqualität durch künstliche Zahnwurzeln
If you have lost your natural teeth, implants can in most cases give you back that “own teeth feeling”. Implants are artificial roots that have been embedded in the jawbone. They are usually either shaped like a screw or cylindrical and fuse with the bone forming a very strong bond. Tooth restorations are then fitted to these artificial roots. The exact type of restoration depends on the individual indication:
Fixed prostheses – preferably all-ceramic:
- Crowns (where one tooth is missing)
- Bridges (where several adjacent teeth are missing)
Combination prostheses – preferably all-ceramic:
- Restorations fitted to telescope and clip-bar anchoring systems (where several adjacent teeth are missing)
- Full dentures (if all teeth are missing)
