All-ceramic dental restorations – Pure ceramic for outstanding aesthetics

Great looking, natural and safe: More and more people are choosing all-ceramic dental restorations.

More and more people are choosing highly aesthetic all-ceramic dental prostheses. In 2004, around 1.9 million all-ceramic inlays, crowns and bridges were fitted in Germany alone.

For the best possible aesthetics and biocompatibility, all-ceramic dental prostheses are today’s first choice.

The considerable advantages of all-ceramic restorations:

bad aesthetics
BEFORE: A metal-based prosthesis does not allow light to penetrate it in the way that natural teeth do. And the metal can cause the gums to become discoloured. (Photo: Degudent)

AFTER: All-ceramic restorations offer the best possible aesthetics. They are translucent and the gums retain their natural colour. (Photo: Degudent)
  • Best possible aesthetics: perfect “white aesthetics”
  • Natural look: The translucence and light refracting properties of ceramic are very similar to natural teeth, giving a ceramic restoration a brilliant, natural whiteness. Metal-based restorations do not have these characteristics and look dull and lifeless in comparison.
  • Chameleon effect: The restoration blends in with the surrounding teeth giving a completely natural impression.
  • No gum discolouration caused by metal in the restoration: Light entering all-ceramic restorations passes into the gum tissue making the gums look vital and fresh with a healthy pink colour, just as they do with natural teeth. Perfect “red aesthetics”.
  • No discolouration of the restoration itself: The ceramics used are extraordinarily resistant to discolouration.
  • The teeth’s nerves are protected thanks to the low thermal conductivity of ceramic (compared to metal-based restorations).
  • No build-up of plaque on the highly glazed surface of the ceramic.
  • Elasticity combined with high strength: The ceramic used is flexible enough for the restoration to give a little when chewing, just like natural teeth do, but it also strong and hard (high flexural strength).
  • Best possible biocompatibility: virtually insoluble in the mouth.
